How exactly the wire is bent between the rods depends on the size of the ring and the sharpness of the bend.

The rods are perfectly smooth, so you can avoid scratches. Don’t apply too much force with these pliers – as the pliers are round, not flat, it is still possible to make small indentations in the wire.
